About the CCBA Speaker
Anni Newham
Anni Newham is a business analyst practitioner in Cape Town, South Africa. She has spent the past 5 years on strategic and process analysis assignments within the retail industry and the 10 years prior on process improvement projects across the FMCG wholesale industry value chain. She holds a B Com Management degree and obtained the CCBA certification in April 2015. A passion for neuroscience lead Anni to complete both a brain-based coaching qualification and a certificate in NeuroLeadership during 2012. In addition to competence in business analysis practices, Anni believes curiosity and conversation skills are a business analysts best tools.   


 

About the CBAP Speaker
Garnet Masenda

Garnet is passionate about business analysis and has over 10 years work experience in the field. He has worked in the Financial Services and Logistics sectors in various capacities as a Business analyst. He has vast industry knowledge and has worked on high-profile projects from conception to post-implementation benefits realisation evaluation. He has written articles for the the webiste BA times on various topics on the subject of business analysis. He has contributed exam items for the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) exams. He also holds a  business analysis professional (CBAP) qualitification, as well as agile certified practioner and TOGAF 9 Enterprise architecture and a  B.Sc. honours in information systems.

About the Host
Paul Benn

Paul has been a Business Analyst for the last 16 years working in the financial industry. He has worked on various projects ranging from Data Warehousing, Solution Development, System strategy Design and lately Mobile app Development.

He is a strong believer in the soft skills within the profession as everything we do involves working with people, influencing people and communicating with people

Currently he is busy working on his CBAP and plans to complete this by June 2017

There has been a strong shift in focus and demand from OLTP to OLAP systems as the demand for analytics has increased.

An organizations BI capabilities has become a major source of informing business decisions to enable a competitive advantage over competitors in servicing clients and improving operational efficiencies.

Due to the increase in demand for BI Projects it has become imperative for BAs to augment their BA skills to ensure that they are able to provide the necessary value and expertise within a BI Context.

The talk will focus on what skills are typically required from a BI BA with specific references to recent Case Studies in which the presenter has been personally involved.
